Sometimes, it takes a friend’s suggestion for it to dawn on me to do something that’s obviously necessary and clearly helpful. In this case, I’m talking about talk therapy.
I have been in therapy at various times over the course of my life, but the most recent was roughly 9 years ago. After my mental breakdown and mental health crisis last year, I am more motivated than ever to uproot the issues from their source, own my trauma, process and work through it in a more meaningful way. A way that will enable me to maintain balance, equanimity, self-confidence, and healthy expression of my thoughts and feelings.
It wasn’t until my friend Nancy gently suggested getting professional help that I sought it out. For myself, primarily.
I have identified that my dynamic with my partner was the main trigger of my anxiety and depression last year. There were lots of other little ones, but that was the cannonball. So deep and raw was the wound, yet somehow I bandaged it up and pretended it wasn’t even there. I denied it to myself until only just recently. I wasn’t willing to look at it in the light of day, but now I am.
And my husband and I are going to partners’ counseling today for the first time.
We are turning a corner, prioritizing our relationship, giving time and energy to clearer, more honest, and compassionate communication.
Sacred calendar magic that it’s happening today on 6 No’j. Ultimate stability of the mind, thought power, decision making, wisdom, gratitude, and kindness.
Maltiox, Nawal No’j.
