3 Ajmaq — The Sweetness of Self-Forgiveness

3 Ajmaq carries the medicine of forgiveness, release, and the sweetness that comes from humility. Ajmaq is the nawal of ancestral wisdom, redemption, curiosity, and the human capacity to learn from mistakes rather than be defined by them. The number 3 brings movement, dialogue, and expression, inviting us to speak what has been held quietly in the heart. Together, this day supports honest reckoning with the past, with inherited patterns, and with our own missteps so healing can keep unfolding. 3 Ajmaq reminds us that forgiveness is not erasure, but integration. When we release guilt and soften judgment, life regains its flavor.

For whatever harm I have caused myself, I forgive myself.

This is the mantra I carry today.

Ajmaq teaches that forgiveness begins within. It asks for wonder, curiosity, and a beginner’s mind—the willingness to start again from square one, being open and empty enough to receive. This is the beauty of learning something new: through experience we slowly transform knowledge into wisdom.

When I feel anger arise, I am reminded that curiosity is a powerful medicine. Instead of hardening into judgment, I practice pausing. I try to open my mind to the other person’s perspective, to remember that there is always more than one truth moving through any moment. Curiosity softens what blame hardens.

Today is also about celebrating the sweetness of life in small, tangible ways. Savoring a piece of dark chocolate. Lingering over a warm mug of tea or coffee. Journaling freely, stream-of-consciousness, just for myself. Sitting quietly for a few moments, breathing, being still, allowing the nervous system to settle. These simple acts are offerings. They restore balance.

I forgive my past self for the mistakes she made. She was doing the best she could with the awareness and tools she had at the time. I also forgive my future self for the mistakes she will inevitably make. To be human is to learn through experience. There is no final success or failure, only growth, reflection, and return.

Today, I hug myself. I offer love and compassion to this imperfect, earnest being navigating life on Earth, right here and right now. Ma’tiox Nawal Ajmaq.
