4 No’j – Earth Medicine

4 No’j is the steady mind. The grounded intelligence that knows how to pause, organize, and choose wisely. No’j governs thought, learning, ethics, and the human capacity to reason with kindness. The number four brings structure and stability—the four directions, the four legs of a table, the foundation that allows ideas to become embodied wisdom. Today asks us to slow our thinking, to use the mind as an instrument of clarity rather than critique. Kindness and gratitude are the highest expressions of intelligence. When thought is rooted in care, discernment becomes gentle, and wisdom becomes practical, livable, and human.

I love the sky—the blue of it, the clearness of the day. I love the blue of the lake, the blue-green of the volcano. I love this life, here and now. I love this work I get to do: yoga, breath, writing, teaching.
I am grateful for the openness of my heart, even as I continue striving to open it further. I am grateful for the openness of my mind and my ability to be flexible in my thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and mantras. I feel compassion for other people, but do I feel enough compassion for myself? I can sometimes be too harsh with my inner voice. It’s good to soften up, to lighten up.
I invite communication—not only from other humans, but also from the animals, insects, plants, and elements of nature. My voice is soft, calming, grounded, and clear. Kind and loving. Harmonic and melodic. Coherent and expressive. My voice is quiet. It’s a songbird on a volcano, part of the thread of time. My voice is the voice of the wind.
I express my truth when I feel safe and secure, when I feel the soles of my feet on the ground connecting to the heart of Mother Earth, when I feel my heart lifting, connecting to the heart of the sky. Truth is eternal. Truth is love, which is life, which is divine and natural. Truth is beyond words and concepts
