2 Tz’ikin carries the energy of vision, discernment, and sacred perspective. Tz’ikin is the nawal of the bird, which represents clear sight, abundance, blessings, and the ability to see patterns from above. The number 2 brings polarity, relationship, and choice, asking us to notice how our inner vision relates to the outer world. Today highlights decisions guided by wisdom and abundance rather than fear and poverty mentality. It is a powerful time to reassess direction, listen for guidance, and recognize opportunities that may not yet be fully formed. 2 Tz’ikin reminds us that clarity often comes when we relax and trust the wider view.
According to the sacred Mayan calendar, we are in the final trecena of a 13-year cycle, and on February 18 we will cross a threshold as a new 13-year cycle begins with the year bearer 1 Kej. This is a potent moment for reflection and an invitation to rise above the details of daily life and take a wider view of the past 13 years. Through the lens of 2 Tz’ikin, we look back with discernment and gratitude, honoring the crossroads we have faced, the joys that have expanded us, and the challenges that have refined our vision since early 2013.
For me, this cycle aligns with the life of my daughter Jade and, inseparably, my life as a mother. It feels astonishing how quickly time has moved. How she shifted from baby to toddler to little sprite to the young woman she is becoming now, full of creativity, curiosity, insecurity, and beauty. Witnessing her gradual unfolding has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. From this higher vantage point, I see motherhood not as an arc of devotion, learning, and love.
As I soar like the eagle of Tz’ikin, I can see that my own path, though meandering, has been steadily guided toward clarity and purpose. What once felt uncertain now reveals a coherent pattern: sharing the practices of yoga, pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, and the sacred Mayan calendar in meaningful, intentional ways. From above, abundance is unmistakable—not only in economic wellbeing, but also in the fresh air, the living landscape, and the birds moving freely from branch to branch. Today I thank the birds for their medicine: reminding me to rise above heaviness, to sing, to laugh, to trust joy, and to see the many blessings already present.
Maltiox, Nawal Tz’ikin.
