I can’t think of what to write, so instead I sit and meditate. Turning within, I notice sensations in my body. I notice a sense of gratitude for my health and for the absence of aches and pains. I notice the orchestra of the birds and cicadas outside. I notice my breath, how it naturally deepens when I pay attention to it. I notice the sound of Joseph Goldstein’s voice on the guided meditation audio I’m listening to. I feel grateful for the 12 minutes of stillness and pause I’m giving myself late this morning. Better late than never! I notice that my mind feels scattered. Lots of random thoughts pop up. I notice my emotions, and in the moment, I feel calm, centered, and content.
