5 Kawoq – Patience with All Our Relations

In the sacred Mayan calendar, 5 Kawoq carries the energy of emotional labor, collective care, and the work of tending what nourishes life. Kawoq is the nawal of rainstorms, family, community, and birthing. It governs both emotional overwhelm and emotional healing, reminding us that cleansing often comes through intensity. The number 5 brings effort, action, and hands-on engagement, asking us to work on our healing rather than waiting for the dis-ease to pass. Today, 5 Kawoq invites us to show up for ourselves and others with compassion, patience, steadiness, and humility, even when the emotional weather is shifting.

I give thanks to all my relations. I am grateful for the cleansing, healing power of the rain and for the care, compassion, and wisdom of the midwife who knows how to guide life through thresholds with grounded patience, love, and presence.

Today, I consciously place my energy toward community: toward sharing the wisdom of the ancient Mayan teachings, toward patience, slowing down, and being fully present. I choose thoughtfulness over urgency, listening over fixing, embodiment over rushing.

I connect to the energy of Grandmother Turtle today: her loving kindness, stoic strength, and steady and deliberate pace. She reminds me that healing does not need to be fast to be effective and that wisdom ripens in its own time. There is great power in moving slowly and trusting the rhythm of life.

I am profoundly grateful for this life and this existence. It is an honor and a pleasure to do the work I am called to do: to lead retreat spaces, hold containers of reflection and transformation, and interpret the sacred fire ceremony with reverence and humility. Simultaneous service, prayer, passion, and devotion.

Today, I remember that present-moment attention is medicine. I remember to show up with an open heart. I know that tending to the collective field begins with tending to my own inner landscape and centeredness.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Gracias, gracias, gracia. Maltiox, maltiox, maltiox.

Happy New Now.
