The Power of Retreat

The peace revolution that we each individually and collectively need, and that our Mother Earth needs, is a revolution that begins within.

In stillness, silence, deep listening, conscious breathing, holding, releasing and balancing, we cultivate inner peace and dedicate the merit of our practice to the benefit of all beings without exception.

Om Mani Padme Hum
The jewel is in the lotus.

The power of retreat is a way to spur the peace revolution within and around us.

The power of retreat lies in breaking the routine, stepping out of our home environment, and both entering and leaving our comfort zone.

The power of retreat lies in devoting days to practicing yoga, tuning in, being present, and breathing. To journaling and looking within, to ceremony, to ritual, to reading, to hiking, to swimming, to whatever your intuition leads to you doing (or not doing).

The power of retreat lies in eating mindfully, being/going vegetarian and drinking plenty of tea and water and not too much coffee... and not having to cook or wash dishes. Allowing yourself to be served and giving thanks to those who serve you.

The power of retreat lies in slowing down and smelling the flowers.

I'm bursting with gratitude for having spent the past week of leading a lovely young woman through her personal yoga and writing retreat. I also benefitted from the immersion in nature, through joyful hours of shared practice each day, and by sharing and listening. Connecting with heart energy and moving from the foundation of gratitude. Connecting with the elements of earth, water, fire and especially air over the course of a few super windswept days.

Join me on retreat in Guatemala this May, July, August, September or October!
