Today, 13 Ajmaq invites us to surrender to the highest wisdom of acceptance and forgiveness, recognize that letting go of judgment of ourselves and others is the gateway to liberation, and understand that the greatest spiritual act is the radical acceptance of what is.
Essential Questions:
- What am I refusing to accept or forgive?
- How would my life change if I released judgment completely?
- What becomes possible when I accept reality just as it is?
“Clearly recognizing what is happening inside us, and regarding what we see with an open, kind and loving heart, is what I call Radical Acceptance. If we are holding back from any part of our experience, if our heart shuts out any part of who we are and what we feel, we are fueling the fears and feelings of separation that sustain the trance of unworthiness. Radical Acceptance directly dismantles the very foundations of this trance.” ~Tara Brach, Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life With the Heart of a Buddha
I’m sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you
Those we love the most, we can hurt the most. ‘Tis sad but true. I apologize energetically to any person, animal, insect, or plant I have harmed, whether intentionally or unintentionally. May they forgive me. I forgive those who have harmed me, whether intentionally or unintentionally. I forgive myself for my many transgressions and mistakes. Or, I’m working on it. A lifelong practice, like so many.
I celebrate the sweetness of life today, too. The adorable kitten curled up next to me. The birds singing all day in the trees. Mama Atitlán, this precious lake that is the truest home I know. My daughter in all her adolescent awkwardness, attitude, intelligence, and kindness. Friends near and far. This breath. This body. This precious human life.
Today is the 260th day of 260 days since I started this little project of going through each day of the sacred Mayan calendar. I celebrate that completion. I look forward to the next 260-day cycle, however it will continue unfolding and spiraling upward.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for being alive. Thank you to all the ancestors for paving the way for us, the descendants.
Maltiox, Nawal Ajmaq.
