Today, 6 Toj invites us to enter the sanctuary of silence, listen deeply with gratitude, and recognize that in the spaces between words and thoughts, we find the stability and integration we seek.
Essential Questions:
- What is silence asking of me today?
- How can I cultivate gratitude in the quiet moments?
- What do I hear when I truly get quiet and listen?
The Feast of Creativity
Choosing where to place my mind.
Choosing how to spend my time.
Choosing which letters to put next to one another to form words
and which words to string into sentences and which sentences to stack into paragraphs.
Reading fiction more, in addition to the nonfiction (memoir and history) I gravitate toward.
Reading poetry, which I rarely do, even though I love poetry.
Choosing to use my oceans of free time and unstructured days in beneficial ways.
Creativity as a lifestyle and a practice.
The yoga of creativity.
Zen and the art of art.
Creativity including what colors I wear, how I rearrange the furniture, how I sit, stand, walk, posture.
Creativity including what I cook, eat, and consume, physically, intellectually, spiritually.
Creativity including where my feet touch the earth and how softly yet firmly.
Creativity comes hand-in-hand with responsibility, which is discipline, which is sitting down and working, milking the mind for words and ideas, mining the brain for stories and sense-making.
And this sacred responsibility for our bodies, our lives, and our lands goes hand-in-hand with freedom, joy, and liberation.
I am happy to pull up a chair and sit at the table of creativity and feast on the abundance surrounding me at all times and in so many ways:
fresh air
pure water
whole foods
love
inspiration
gratitude
