Today, 7 K’at invites us to see from the summit what we’ve been carrying and what we need to release, to attain the 360-degree view of our connections and entanglements, and to choose from this higher perspective what to carry forward and what to let go.
Essential questions:
- What am I weaving?
- What webs hold me?
- Is my net full of treasure or is it packed too full?
I am rapidly approaching my 46th birthday on May 30. Last year, it was anticlimactic after expecting to spend it in London but instead fleeing the day before on a tedious transatlantic journey from England to Texas via two long flights and then hours in my dad’s car to get to my parents’ house. I hence spent my 45th birthday mostly discombobulated from the jet lag and especially from my heart-mind swirling the drain of anxiety, negativity, and confusion. How had I sunk so low so fast? It took me many months to untangle that question, but I have found the balm of clarity in retrospect.
I am reflecting on certain friendships and how they have changed in the past year. Two women who were my closest confidants for years are barely in my life anymore. In one case, it was my choice to end communication. The other faded away almost imperceptibly.
I grieve both, even as I feel like I don’t need or want to mend the (intentionally or unintentionally) burnt bridges.
I cherish friends and value my ability to keep in contact and maintain meaningful connection, but I also acknowledge that life happens, people shift and change, circumstances and situations arise that alter our inner circle, and that is natural.
I still love them from afar.
Smack dab in the middle of the Tijax trecena, 7 K’at reminds me that some nets are full of treasure, while others are overloaded and in need of culling. Some connections need to be carried forward; others need to be released with love.
Maltiox, Nawal K’at.
