1 Tijax – The Seed of Truth, Healing & Purification

1 Tijax invites us to

  • plant the seed of healing and transformation
  • wield the obsidian blade with intention and precision
  • start a new 13-day trecena of cutting through illusion and speaking difficult truths
  • honor the warrior healer path that asks us to remove what no longer serves so that new growth can emerge

The Tijax trecena is a 13-day journey through healing, transformation, and the power of the sacred blade to cut away the nonessential and get to the truth. Tijax is the obsidian knife: delicate yet sharp, capable of both wounding and healing depending on how we wield it. This energy asks us to cut through illusion, speak truth, and release what no longer serves. The warrior knows that sometimes we must remove the infected tissue to save the body or acknowledge and give voice to a hard truth to restore balance. These 13 days call upon us to be precise with our words, clear in our boundaries, and willing to let go. The trecena of Tijax asks:

  • What needs to be cut away?
  • What truth needs to be spoken?
  • What illusion are you ready to see through?

I wanted to escape my life, just for a little while. Without asking permission. I longed for solitude, for time alone to reflect and revel. But instead of a carefree personal retreat, I launched myself into the labyrinth of my mind’s games. I fell into insomnia, anxiety, and a deep dark well of depression. Confusion, chaos, and angst that took away my ability to read, to see, to hear, to move with clarity, joy, or care.

I couldn’t see at the time why so many tiny triggers led to such a major crisis within my heart-mind. The effect felt wildly incongruent with the cause.

It is only with the passage of time and the gift of retrospect that I see the larger pattern at play. The desire to escape, to exert my independence and freedom, to go where I wanted to on my own and let go of duties and responsibilities for a few weeks. I was rebelling against the oppression I felt in my roles as wife and mother, breadwinner and upstanding citizen. I dropped those masks for a while but the guilt and shame I felt for making several rash decisions piled up and turned me against myself.

Seeing this, I embrace all aspects of my shadow and light. I hug my inner child at age 8, my inner teen at age 14, my inner confused young adult at 24, and my inner self from a year ago at 44 on the cusp of 45.

I know I am on a lifelong path of healing and transformation that sometimes gets rocky, and the challenging times I’ve faced enable me to navigate the uneven path with grace, gratitude, and laughter.

1 Tijax is a fresh opportunity to plant seeds of healing. To begin again. The obsidian blade cuts through the illusion. The warrior healer knows that transformation is not linear or logical. Sometimes we fall into the labyrinth before we find the way out, yet every shadow held with love becomes light.

Maltiox, Nawal Tijax.
