11 Aq’ab’al – Zig Zag Yin Yang

Aq’ab’al is dawn: the liminal space between darkness and light where mysteries are revealed, new concepts emerge from shadow, and the first glimmers of awareness illuminate what was hidden in the night. Aq’ab’al teaches us to honor both light and shadow, recognize that duality is not opposition but partnership, and explore the in-between spaces where transformation happens: the bat’s cave, the threshold, the moment before sunrise when anything is possible.

The 11 brings unpredictability, distraction, creative chaos, and the energy of wandering without a clear destination, asking us to release control, embrace spontaneity, and allow ourselves to meander through unknown territory without knowing where we’ll end up.

Guided Meditation for 11 Aq’ab’al

Close your eyes and imagine yourself standing outside at the moment of dawn. Behind you, the night is deep and mysterious. Before you, pale light touches the horizon. You stand in the in-between, not fully in darkness nor fully in light. Breathe here in this threshold space. Notice what becomes visible in this gentle, uncertain illumination: truths you couldn’t see in the bright day, shadows you couldn’t name in the deep night. Wander here without destination. Let yourself be curious and unhurried. Dawn takes its own sweet time.

Dark and Light Things

Dark things
Dark stars, black holes, nightmares, shadowy snakes on stone stairs, denial, a burning itching sensation, paralysis, caverns, corruption, contamination, same old patterns rearing up their ugly heads all too often, scurrying rats in the subway station, vampire bats, pessimism, dissociation, dysfunction, suffering, pain of all ilks.

Light things
Butterflies, rays of sunshine, moonrise, laughter is the best medicine, the sound of coffee being ground, a quiet room where no one will bother me, dogs’ smiles, kittens, trusting in this moment, savoring this breath, blooming flowers, freedom to roam and wander, brain candy, easy pose, napping, avocados, waiting until I’m hungry to eat.
