Ajpu is the sun, the golden light, the hero’s journey, and the divine spark within every human that makes us miraculous, simply for existing in this world. 8 brings manifestation, completion, and infinite abundance. It is the power of ceremony, balance, and celebrating what we have created while acknowledging how much more is possible.
Today, 8 Ajpu invites us to give thanks through ritual for the light within us, honor our hero’s journey through simple acts of gratitude, and celebrate our life and existence.
Guided Meditation
Close your eyes and place one hand on your heart. Feel the warmth there: the golden sun inside your chest that’s always glowing. Breathe and acknowledge: you are here, alive, on your own hero’s journey. Give thanks for this body, this breath, and this precious human life. Visualize light radiating from your heart outward in all directions, touching your family, your community, the earth beneath you, the sky above and ultimately all beings. You are the sun. You are the hero. This is your ceremony of gratitude.
Ciao, Bufanda
What have I taken off?
The heavy brown scarf of self-doubt.
I took it off ceremoniously and gave it to the fire.
To the Nawal Kiej, my own central energy.
The deer, the body, the land, freedom and sovereignty.
I wept as it burned.
And my tears were witnessed.
That scarf held petty accusations of cultural appropriation, both spoken and unsaid. It held the not-enoughness and too-muchness that society, school, culture, media, religion, economy and family had brainwashed me into believing I was. Paradoxically, both not enough and too much at once.
The heavy woven beige scarf that burned and transformed into sacred smoke and ashes was all my labels and diagnoses. My limiting beliefs. My being my own worst enemy.
Now that I’ve taken it off, shed it, burnt it, offered it—
I feel light and free.
I am on my path.
I feel I can breathe again after coming damn near suffocation.
I feel more grateful, present, and compassionate.
I thank the scarf for its lessons, its warmth, color, and cotton thread.
I thank Great Spirit for my life and my existence.
Thank you for giving me the scarf and for taking it away.
Gracias
