10 Ajmaq – Community Forgiveness and Cycle Breaking

Ajmaq is the nawal of forgiveness, pardon, and the sacred act of releasing resentment, teaching us that holding onto anger and hurt poisons us far more than it affects those who harmed us and that true freedom comes from choosing to let go.

This energy also governs the healing of intergenerational patterns: the wounds passed down through bloodlines and the possibility of breaking cycles through conscious forgiveness and grace. Ajmaq carries the sweetness of reconciliation, the medicine of ancestral wisdom, and the understanding that we are all flawed humans doing our best with the resources we have.

10 brings manifestation, community, wholeness, and the energy of hands working together, making it a powerful day for collective healing and creating peace through shared intention. 10 Ajmaq invites us to manifest peace and sweetness into our reality by forgiving at the family and community levels, honoring ancestral wisdom, and releasing grudges that keep us bound to the past.

Previous generations of humans had to toil harder, die younger, and live more challenging lives in many regards. Survival was harder. Comfort was rarer. The margin for error was smaller. And people carried burdens that we in the modern era can barely imagine from our position of relative ease.

People were not as open with their thoughts and emotions in past societies structured by rigid rules and class, age, and gender roles. Expression was dangerous. Vulnerability was weakness.

On 10 Ajmaq, I forgive my ancestors for their frigidity, fear, repression, and lack of expression. Ajmaq teaches that forgiveness is not about condoning harm. It is about releasing the weight of carrying it forward. It is about choosing freedom over the false comfort of justified anger.

And so I forgive. And in forgiving, I also give thanks.

I am grateful for the strength, vitality, and resilience that have been passed down to me. I forgive the colonizers even as I mourn the loss of untold indigenous wisdom.

The grief is real. The anger is justified.

Still, I am grateful for the teachings that remain and help me to shape my sacred days with consciousness, joy, and love. I am grateful for the calendar that survived despite everything. For the elders who still carry the wisdom and are willing to share it with those of us who were not born into it but have chosen to honor it anyway.

I forgive. I grieve. I give thanks. I continue. This is the work of 10 Ajmaq. This is how we manifest peace.

Maltiox, Nawal Ajmak. Thank you for the courage to forgive. Thank you for the strength to break the cycles. Thank you for the sweetness of life that makes it bearable.
