K’at is the sacred net, the web of connection that binds all of life together. It is the nawal of entanglement, karma, consequence, and the understanding that every action ripples outward, creating the intricate tapestry of our shared existence. This energy represents both freedom and bondage, teaching us that we are simultaneously caught in the web of our choices and empowered to weave new patterns through awareness, intention, and accountability for what we have created.
The number 11 brings the energy of resolution, testing, and challenge. Today asks us to confront what is unfinished, to untangle the knots we have tied, and to face the complexities of our lives with courage and clarity. 11 K’at is a day of reckoning and liberation: a time to examine the threads of our relationships, habits, and patterns, to see where we are tangled or constrained, and to consciously choose which connections to honor and which to release.
This is the third of five introspective days called Tz’apin Q’ij before the Mayan New Year. It’s a time to look honestly at the web we have woven and to take responsibility for our part in the pattern. 11 K’at reminds us that we are never separate from one another or from the consequences of our actions, and that true freedom comes not from escaping the net but from learning to weave it with greater wisdom and love.
Today is a day to work with acceptance.
11 K’at asks: what web have you woven? What knots have you tied? Can you see the whole pattern with love? On this third day of the Tz’apin Q’ij, the sacred pause before the New Year, I sit with the question: What do I accept about myself and my life based on the past year?
I accept that I am a delicate and soft, yet strong and resilient flower. Both/and. Gentleness does not negate strength. Fragility does not cancel out resilience. This is the web of K’at—we are caught between opposites, living in paradox, and that is exactly where we are meant to be.
I accept that I like to indulge in magical thinking. That I prefer to believe everything is good and miraculous rather than spinning out into anxiety or bottoming out with depression. Some might call this denial. I call it survival. It feels a lot better to lean toward light than to drown in darkness. Though K’at reminds me: moderation. The middle path. Don’t get so tangled in the optimism that you lose touch with reality.
I’m tangled up with my family. But isn’t that the way with families? Our closest relationships are our messiest. The threads that bind us most tightly are the ones most likely to trap us in old patterns we swore we’d outgrown. I need to sweep out the cobwebs. Or do I? Maybe the cobwebs are part of the web. Maybe the mess is the medicine.
The number 11 brings challenge, testing, the need for resolution. Yesterday, I cried. Angry and sad, I let the tears come. And even as they fell, I felt grateful. Because for over a month last year, I could not summon tears. My emotions were so numb, so disconnected, so out of whack that I lost the ability to cry. I have gotten it back.
I flow with the river of my emotions now. I let them move through and shape me. This is the gift of K’at: we are not separate from the web. We are the web. Every choice, tear, and thread we weave creates the pattern of our life.
I spin a web of beauty, joy, presence, and expansiveness around me. I get to choose what I weave, even when I cannot choose what has already been woven.
Acceptance is the recognition that the net holds us all and that we are both caught and free at the same time.
