7 Ajpu – Divinity, Humility, and the Radiant Heart

Ajpu is the energy of the Sun: the radiant, golden light of Source that illuminates our path, reveals our deeper purpose, and invites us to shine our authentic gifts into the world without apology or diminishment. This nawal carries the essence of the hero’s journey, the sacred warrior who knows what to stand for and how to stand for it, weaving together spiritual insight and earthly responsibility into a life of integrity, vision, and devotion.

The number 7 brings us to the top of the pyramid, a place of completion, rest, and 360-degree perspective that opens clear communication with the sky and cosmos and empowers us to see all the opportunities and paths before us.

Today, 7 Ajpu invites a moment of elevated clarity: to pause at the apex of this cycle, survey the landscape of your life with honesty and openness, and receive guidance from above about what your next chapter is asking of you. This is a day to celebrate the divinity within yourself and others, to let your inner sun blaze without the shadow of ego dimming its light, and to ask: what is the truest, most radiant expression of who I am? 7 Ajpu reminds us that spiritual mastery is the willingness to show up, again and again, as the fullest version of yourself.

I am 45 years old. According to the Mayan cosmovision, in seven years I will be an elder. Today is 7 Ajpu, the day of the golden sun, the hero’s journey, and the view from the top of the pyramid.

Seven is the number of completion, perspective, resting at the apex, and seeing the whole landscape spread out before you. That is precisely where I find myself in this season of life. Not finished (never finished) but arrived at some kind of summit. A place where I can exhale and take in the view.

My hero’s journey has been winding. But aren’t they all? No life moves in a straight line from point A to B to C. We meander. We double back. We lose the trail entirely and then find it again, often somewhere we never expected. The journey doesn’t ask us to be efficient, just present.

Last year asked a great deal of me. My mental health, physical health, and sense of stability were tested, shaken, and shattered. There were days when I could not see the path forward, let alone the view from the top of any pyramid. The sun and the lake felt painfully far away.

And yet. Ajpu teaches us that the hero’s journey is not about avoiding the darkness. It is about moving through it and returning, transformed, bearing gifts for the community. The trials of last year revealed gifts I could not have unwrapped any other way. My self-confidence that is no longer borrowed from external validation but rooted in lived experience. Trust in the unfolding of life, even when I cannot see where it leads. Patience, that slow and hard-won grace. And expansiveness: the capacity to open my heart to the full heights and depths of being human, without armor.

I am stronger for what I moved through. Also softer. More vulnerable. More willing to admit: I don’t know, I struggled, I fell apart, and I am still here. The sun doesn’t shine because it is invulnerable. It shines because that is its nature.

Ajpu is the antidote to ego. True radiance has nothing to prove. It simply is. At 45, resting at the midpoint between youth and the elderhood that awaits me, I am learning to let my golden light be what it is.

Maltiox, Nawal Ajpu. Thank you for the fire. Thank you for the light.
