In the sacred Mayan calendar, 10 K’at carries the energy of weaving, binding, passion, and life lessons gathered through experience. K’at is the nawal of the net, and it governs contracts, responsibilities, patterns we inherit, and the threads we consciously choose to cut loose or carry forward. It teaches that life is not random but intricately woven, shaped by choices, relationships, and the vows we make to ourselves and others. The number 10 brings manifestation and community level communication. Today, 10 K’at invites us to recognize the patterns we are living, to loosen what binds us unnecessarily, and to honor the commitments that truly sustain life.
10 K’at honors both lineage and becoming. It asks us to look with tenderness at what we are bound to, what we are responsible for, and what we are ready to reweave with more intention. Some knots are meant to be tightened with care; others are ready to be gently untied.
Today, this energy feels poignant as Jade turns 13, crossing a threshold from child to teenager. As a mother, I feel this energy most clearly in my relationship with my daughter. From the moment she arrived (4:05 p.m. on 7 Ajmaq, January 6, 2013), our lives have been bound together by responsibility, devotion, and love.
Some threads are loosening as she steps into her own autonomy. Others strengthen, becoming cords of trust rather than control. K’at reminds me that my role is not to grip tightly but to tend the weave with care. To know when to hold, when to release, and when to simply witness who she is becoming.
Motherhood is a lifelong act of weaving: protection and freedom, guidance and listening, presence and patience. On 10 K’at, I remember that love does not mean tying someone to me forever, but helping them move through the world connected, supported, and free.
Today I honor the sacred bond between us. A relationship that grows, shifts, knots, and untangles. A net wide enough to catch us when we fall and open enough to let us both fly.
Beloved Jade,
May you walk into this new chapter with curiosity and courage.
May you trust the wisdom living inside you when life feels confusing or overwhelming.
May you know that you are allowed to change your mind, your style, and your dreams.
May the threads of your life be woven with joy, creativity, kindness, curiosity, and truth.
May you always feel supported by the unseen net of love surrounding you—your ancestors, your family, your friends, and the earth itself.
May you continue to grow strong in your body, clear in your voice, and compassionate in your heart.
May you remember that you are enough exactly as you are, right here and now.
Happy 13th birthday, sweet daughter.
The world is brighter with you in it.
