Today is 12 Q’anil, a day of maturity, abundance, and completion. Today, the seeds we’ve planted through intention and action come into full bloom.
Q’anil is the nawal of fertility and fruition, the energy of the seed and the star, the vibrant pulse of life that brings everything to ripeness. It is both the golden corn shimmering in the field and the luminous star guiding us toward our highest potential. Q’anil is the fertile ground where dreams and plans take root and blossom into form.
The number 12 carries the wisdom of experience. It gathers all that has come before and weaves it into understanding. 12 is a number of reflection and integration, a moment to pause and recognize the intricate patterns of your life. It teaches that nothing is wasted; every moment, lesson, and connection is part of your harvest. Together, 12 Q’anil represents the flowering of wisdom, the point at which your inner garden is rich with nourishing fruit.
Today on 12 Q’anil, I am reflecting on my past as a student and a teacher, a seed and a star. And on my present as both student and teacher—what I’m learning, what I’m sharing. I look back at the bygone eras of my life and feel deep gratitude for the choices I made, the winding path that brought me here. I contemplate the ways in which I’ve grown and matured over time, the way my flower continues to blossom. My career has evolved—from advertising to education, to yoga retreat leading and coordinating, as well as writing, editing, translation, and interpretation. In leaving the U.S. to move to Guatemala many years ago, and eventually to live near the shores of a beautiful volcanic lake, I chose freedom and joy over confinement and misery. In the full bloom of myself, I honor the radiant abundance that has unfolded through trust, courage, and devotion to growth.
Q’anil reminds us that everything in life has its season. Just as the Earth moves through cycles of planting, growth, and renewal, so do we. Today, honor your process. Appreciate how your patience, faith, and care have brought you here. Trust that life is unfolding with divine timing. If something has come to fruition, give thanks and share its beauty generously. The essence of Q’anil is not to hoard abundance, but to let it circulate freely so that more may grow.
In its light, Q’anil brings joy, gratitude, and elegance; in its shadow, it can drift into perfectionism or overindulgence. The key is balance. Tend your inner garden with discernment while remembering that nature’s beauty lies in its wildness. Today, offer gratitude for the harvest of your life and the people, experiences, and insights that have shaped your path.
