12 Aq’ab’al – Bringing Forth Knowledge from the Past

12 Aq’ab’al invites us to

  • reflect on the wisdom accumulated in the threshold spaces between light and dark
  • bundle our life experiences of liminal spaces, dawn and dusk
  • honor both shadow and illumination
  • bring forth ancestral knowledge and wisdom from the past into the present and future

My heart feels open, is opening. My heart is where I went to first in this meditation. “Feel into your body, breathe deeply, and observe where your energy is.”

But my intuition called me down to my belly, my gut.

I lost weight and thereby reduced the gut, but then I gained it back last summer and there it has remained. My protective layers of blubber that I love and hate. My partner tells me he loves my belly and even prefers the curviness over the skinny. While I love my body as it is, I also wonder when and how I will motivate myself to get healthier (i.e., lose weight and lower my blood sugar). I’ve gotten so lax.

On the bright side, meditation this morning feels good. Pranayama. With and without guided audios. Ease and joy are present. I feel thankful. Gratitude for the teachers and the teachings, for my life and existence, for my breath and the magical way focusing on deep breathing transforms and centers my energy.

On 12 Aq’ab’al, I stand in the threshold between what I love and what I resist, between acceptance and change, between light and shadow. Honoring both rather than choosing sides. Breathing in the in-between.

Maltiox, Nawal Aq’ab’al.
