In the sacred Mayan calendar, 12 Ajpu is a day of accumulated wisdom, illumination, and embodied truth. Ajpu is the nawal of the sun, the spiritual warrior, and the fully realized human who walks with courage, clarity, and heart-centered authority. The number 12 gathers lived experience, lessons, and initiations into understanding that can now be integrated and shared. Under 12 Ajpu, insight ripens into self-trust and identity becomes rooted, no longer doubted or questioned. This energy supports the reclaiming of inner light after long periods of struggle, reminding us that wisdom is earned through lived experience.
The Long Walk Out of the Chrysalis
We are ending the final days of a nine-year cycle according to numerology. 2025 is a 9 year (2+2+5), and 2026 will be a 1 year. We’re in the final hallway of our old life, shedding past versions of ourselves, the old snakeskins we’ve outgrown. We are growing our capacity to hold light, to shine. In the chrysalis, old patterns slowly dissolve.
How have I expanded this year? I’ve let go of self-doubt, of questioning my identity, work, path, and purpose. I’ve let go of doing things I don’t want to do (mostly) and going places I don’t want to go. I’ve let go of the need for certainty and control.
This year—13 Iq—I went into a deep, dark hole, had a two-week “vacation” in the mental hospital. I dissolved my diagnosis. I dissolved my need to fit in. I dissolved my mother wound. I dissolved my need or desire to be mothered by her in any sense. I am mothering myself while I mother my almost-13-year-old daughter.
Our relationship is worlds away from the drama and trauma I had with my mother when I was a teen. In this way, I have dissolved the mother–daughter wound and healed our ancestral line. I have created a new vision for my connection with my daughter and the younger generations.
I am dissolving my resistance to aging. I am embracing my beauty and wisdom exactly as I am, in middle age. I am dissolving the insidious concept of “self-improvement.” I dissolved the fight. I am here for the freedom.
What was the purpose of the chaos? Maybe the deeper you go, the higher you fly. I went to the extremes: all heart, no logic—followed by all mind, no heart, no listening to my intuition. Now I am relearning how to integrate mind and heart.
Everything I need is already within me. I hold safety, power, freedom, peace, love, and joy. The sacred fire showed me that. The yoga. The pranayama. The meditation. My path is unfolding with each step.
Losing touch with my practices and passion in midsummer may not have been ideal, but it enabled me to start fresh. To rebuild from the ground up. To become the phoenix birthed from the ashes.
I rediscovered what matters most to me: beauty, creativity, presence, community, practice, laughter, nature, absorption, transparency, kindness, and gratitude.
This is 12 Ajpu: not striving, proving, or fixing but standing fully in the golden light we’ve earned through our lived experience.
